Heather Grahame - potter

Heather's fascination with pottery began at school and has stayed with her throughout her life.

She finds inspiration in the tactile pleasure of handling clay and exploring how it can be manipulated.

'Although modern technology has influenced the way that some processes are performed the way that pots are actually made has hardly changed for centuries. I find it deeply moving to realise that I am part of a brotherhood of potters going back to man's earliest history'

Gwyn Jones - painter/printmaker

Gwyn runs a framing workshop and gallery in Wicklewood, and has painted for most of his life. His love of the local countryside and East Anglian coastline is demonstrated in his oils, watercolours and printmaking.

Liz Mace - painter

Liz lives and works near Shipdham in Norfolk, although she was originally from Rochester in Kent where she still exhibits at the Frances Iles Gallery. Village and county shows, fairs and similar gatherings of enthusiastic people hold a special fascination for her; inspired by the colour, light and atmosphere; by the general bustle, the smell of oil, coal and steam.

In complete contrast, Liz also seeks out the wild lonely places of Norfolk, the Scottish mountains, and Kent marshes and coast as subject matter for her watercolours and pastels.

David Raven - woodturner

A sculptural wood turner, he uses the woods natural flaws and patterns, sometimes even emphasising the imperfections, to create individual pieces which celebrate the natural beauty of the materials

Jocelyn Jacobson

Jo began her creative journey about 18 months ago after visiting a Life Coach who encouraged her to believe in her ability as a painter and follow her dreams of becoming an exhibiting artist. She has no formal qualifications in this area but enrolled in classes given by Norfolk based artist, Nicola Slattery, and was so inspired by her style of painting and also her encouragement to paint from imagination. From this point on Jocelyn gave every spare moment to building up a collection of work, initially for her 1st solo exhibition as a participant of the Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios but also for exhibitions throughout the region where selected pieces have been shown. All Jocelyn's paintings are inspired from memories of her life experiences, both happy and sad, and often from newspaper articles which have touched her emotions.

Joceline is interested in looking closely at the appearance and particular qualities of certain everyday objects, their colour, shape, form, texture or surface pattern. 'These things are important to me and there is a feeling of recognition when I look at something I want to paint. However I am aware that I am also looking for something beyond the objects themselves. I hope that my paintings are not merely a realistic portrayal of their subject matter; I want them to be more than the sum of their parts.'
