Jean Cavanagh - painter
Jean has been painting, mainly in watercolour, for several years.
She previously lived in Edinburgh where soft pink light infused the landscape and coastline of Fife
and influenced her palette. She did botanical
art studies at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh and has, since moving to Norfolk, gained experience
in landscape painting with June Cole, previously of The Royal Miniature Society and the Society of Women Artists.
Jean has particular admiration for the work of the Victorian painters.
Liz Mace - painter
Liz lives and works near Shipdham in Norfolk, although she was originally from Rochester in Kent where she
still exhibits at the Frances Iles Gallery. Village and county shows, fairs and similar gatherings of enthusiastic
people hold a special fascination for her; inspired by the colour, light and atmosphere; by the general bustle, the smell of oil, coal and steam.
In complete contrast, Liz also seeks out the wild lonely places of Norfolk, the Scottish mountains,
and Kent marshes and coast as subject matter for her watercolours and pastels.
Liz teaches art and will be passing on her wisdom during the festival's Drawing Day, please contact her to register 01362 821301
Melissa Jordan - painter
Melissa Jordan was born in London and spent many happy hours as a child drawing animals at London Zoo where her cousin was a keeper. After years of primary school
teaching, raising a family and helping her husband run a business, she now has the time to devote to her artwork. Melissa has travelled widely, observing and painting wildlife
and in 2008 fulfilled a lifetime ambition to camp in the wilderness of the Alaskan Bear Camp, painting, photographing, and studying animal behaviour.
Vanessa Whinney - painter
Vanessa was born in Norfolk, majored in art history at the University of East Anglia and worked in publishing as a picture researcher, but painting has always been in her genes (she is the daughter of
James Fletcher Watson) and in her life. She lives, paints and exhibits in Highgate, London and Ellingham, Norfolk. She loves being out in the countryside
painting the landscape, especially if water is present. Portraits of people, toys, houses and nudes are also a speciality.
